Director of Payment Operations – FULL TIME – Charlottesville, VA
SUMMARY:
The Director of Payment Operations provides strategic leadership for the Credit Union's electronic payment services, including ACH, debit and credit card operations, Zelle, wires, and real-time payments (FedNow and RTP). This position is responsible for driving innovation, ensuring regulatory compliance, enhancing member experience, and fostering strong cross-functional partnerships to support payment modernization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ACH Operations and Compliance Oversight: Lead the processing, exception handling, and compliance management of all ACH activities, ensuring full adherence to NACHA & Reg E rules.
Debit Program Management: Oversee end-to-end debit card processing, instant issuance programs, dispute resolution, fraud support, and card platform enhancements.
Zelle and Emerging Payments Leadership: Manage enrollment, transaction monitoring, fraud mitigation, and operational growth strategies for Zelle and other P2P/B2B offerings.
Wire Processing and Fraud Monitoring: Supervise all domestic and international wire processing, including exception management, OFAC compliance, and risk mitigation.
Real-Time Payments Strategy and Enablement: Lead the development and implementation of real-time payment services, ensuring successful integration and operational excellence.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
7-10 years of leadership experience within the industry is required
A bachelor’s degree and/or a relevant professional certification is preferred
Strong communication and collaboration skills, including courtesy, tact, and diplomacy
Advanced level of familiarity with Reg E, Reg Z, Truth in Lending requirements, and BSA
Proven experience effectively leading operational and technological change
Strong leadership skills, with the proven ability to develop team members
The ability to thrive in a fast paced environment while maintaining detail orientation and organization
