About the Role:
Responsible for seeking out and approaching businesses to establish new commercial lending relationships, deepen existing commercial lending relationships and to refer consumer lending and deposit services to existing and new members. Sales-driven, member service-oriented with strong sales calling experience to expand and develop existing and new business relationships, with the ability to determine needs, provide products and services, and negotiate and structure commercial loans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Origination of business loan applications and supporting financial statements to develop information sufficient to determine the borrowing capacity, capitalization, and cash flow of the applicant. Obtain all support documentation and pre-closing conditions for loan applications in process.
- Sourcing prospects and developing new member relationships, providing financial advice to members, selling appropriate credit union products and services to those prospects and clients, identifying, and successfully capitalizing on cross-sell opportunities and making appropriate referrals for cash management products, consumer loans, and deposit products.
- Provides consultative services to members regarding credit union products and services by assessing the member's needs, addressing their concerns, and gaining agreement.
- Visit with clients and prospective clients regularly, interview and analyze the financial structure of the client business and prospects and recommend products or applicable services.
- Facilitate member relationships to allow the Credit Union to be viewed by clients as a key partner in their business success. Understand and match the client's needs to the appropriate combination of the credit union’s products and services.
- Create new business opportunities through networking with customers, prospects, and referral sources.
- Promotes the credit union through community involvement via memberships in local organizations (i.e., Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, etc.), participation in city/town organizations and volunteer events, engaging local business networks, and the like.
- Visible in the community delivering sales of depository, qualified loan referrals, investments for small businesses, their owners, and employees.
- Develops and maintains a close partnership with branches, including frequent communication via email, phone calls and face to face meetings, and follow through on leads and requests to insure a one team atmosphere.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work independently, highly organized.
- General business knowledge and ability to interact with business leaders.
- Able to analyze financial statements.
- Effective analytical, organizational, business development, presentation, problem-solving, negotiation and customer service skills.
- Must possess at least intermediate technology skills, including knowledge of word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications.
- Must have valid driver’s license and insurance.
- Knowledge of SBA, 504, 7A products is preferred.
- 2-3 years in business development with proven success in finding and closing new opportunities
- Prior banking experience preferred.
