Description
Job Summary:
The Project Accountant is responsible for managing financial aspects of projects, ensuring accurate invoicing, contract compliance, and effective communication with project managers. This role supports project teams by providing accounting expertise, maintaining financial accuracy, and ensuring timely billing and approvals.
Key Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively with project managers regarding contract documents, change orders, modifications, approvals, and additional services related to invoicing.
Open projects, proposals, and clients in the enterprise software system.
Review land development contracts for financial terms and conditions to ensure accurate accounting during project setup.
Process draft invoices and related documents through an electronic billing system.
Prepare final invoices for land development projects, including applicable backup and billing documents.
Ensure all invoices and financial documents receive appropriate approvals per company policies.
Provide support and assistance to project managers and the project accounting team.
Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills:
Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, including Excel, Word, and accounting software.
Prior land development billing experience (23 years in A/E, professional services, or land development environment preferred).
Knowledge of enterprise accounting platforms.
Strong understanding of standard contract terms.
Ability to work collaboratively with others and manage tasks within deadlines.
Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and see projects through to completion.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
