Description
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting the finance and accounting function, bringing a solid foundation in healthcare financial accounting and operations, preferably within a medical laboratory or broader healthcare setting. Experience with grant accounting and familiarity with federal funding requirements (e.g., OMB Uniform Guidance) is highly desirable.
This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance, and contributing to the overall efficiency of financial operations. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong knowledge of GAAP and understanding of the financial processes unique to healthcare, including payer reimbursement workflows. As part of a dynamic, high-growth, organization, the Senior Accountant will also support various ad hoc projects and special requests as the company continues to scale.
Job Responsibilities:
Healthcare Revenue Accounting & Reporting:Ensure accuracy of general ledger entries related to healthcare transactions such as billing revenue recognition and payments.
Work closely with Revenue Cycle Management team to develop, maintain, and record A/R reserve analyses, along with other revenue and collections-related reports.
Month-End and Year-End Close:Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
Support the preparation of the monthly financial reporting package.
Maintain audit-ready workpapers and assist with the annual external audit process, interfacing directly with audit team.
Financial Analysis and Reporting:Analyze financial variances and trends across projects and departments.
Generate and present ad hoc management reports to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
Process Improvement & Internal Controls:Identify and implement enhancements to accounting policies, procedures and workflows.
Ensure adherence to internal controls and contribute to initiatives that mitigate financial and operational risks.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting and/or audit, with a strong preference for experience in healthcare, hospital, or medical laboratory settings
Grant accounting experience is a plus
Deep knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and healthcare revenue cycle operations.
Proficient in entry- to mid-level accounting platforms such as Xero, QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, etc.Experience with general ledger migrations or system implementations is a plus
Background in the healthcare or medical diagnostics industry strongly preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, lookups, etc.) and the Microsoft Office Suite
Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
Strong analytical, critical thinking, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities
Education, Certifications & Licensures:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

Combination of seated and standing work to complete the core functions of the role
The position is located at CND's headquarters in Scottsdale, AZ; with flexibility to work remotely 1-2 days per week as coordinated with manager.
