Description

• Prepares month end journal entries and reconciliations; reviews monthly balance sheets, year-to-date budget reports and related documents for various reports including analytics on revenue sources.
• Analyzes water and sewer revenues and consumption monthly; maintains rate model for the Utility Fund revenue and expenditure projections and proposed rate changes.
• Prepares year end journal entries and schedules for the City's audit in accordance with GAAP; analyzes year-end balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy; corrects discrepancies.
• Assists with the overall preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report including completion of the statistical section. Prepares the Annual Financial Information Report.
• Prepares year-end journal entries and schedules for the Town of Broadway's audit in compliance with GAAP; prepares year-end balance sheet reconciliations for the audit; responds to requests for information from the auditors; prepares year-end financial statement; reviews various year-end reports prepared by the Town's Finance Director; provides support to the Town's Finance Director throughout the year on accounting matters.
• Attends trainings; researches state and federal websites for governmental accounting principles and practices, updates and changes in laws affecting local governments.
• Performs related tasks as required.

Requirements

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, or related field and extensive experience in governmental accounting.
• Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license upon hire.
• Must complete UNC School of Government Introduction to Local Government Finance within six months of employment.
• Must meet and maintain all certification, license and training requirements for position.
• Eligible for up to 5% pay increase upon successful completion of probationary period.
