Company History
Texell Federal Credit Union was formed in 1948,
with our first field of membership to include
employees from the Temple Post Office, the Temple
Veterans Administration Center, and the Temple
Soil Conservation Service.
During the 70's, our membership grew to include
the employees of the Temple Public School
Teachers and the City of Temple. The name was
changed to Temple Federal Credit Union. In 1983,
our Credit Union was approved for a community
charter and our name changed to Temple Area
Federal Credit Union.
In September 2000, our field of membership
expanded to include Belton ISD. The Board of
Directors hired a consulting firm to help the
Credit Union research and explore a possible name
change. Based on the focus group findings, the
Credit Union changed the name to Texell Federal
Credit Union on July 1, 2002. The name combines
both Texas and Bell County and reflects the
geographical area we serve.
